209, Fronzo West
Various Areas of Central Phoenix
8/29/2010
Fronzo “The Fonze” West may look alarming in his politically incorrect daily wear, but the man is actually a Phoenix civil liberties activist. Fonze takes his freedom of speech to a whole new level.
30 years ago, Fonze was roller skating down the street with his girlfriend’s baby. White police officers noted him carrying a baby, white in appearance, and decided to intervene. When he refused to hand the child over to the police, Fonze was wrestled to the ground by the police officers. Why did the cops stop him? Fonz’s was black and his half caucasion baby looked white. Apparently, in the 70’s, carrying a child of a different color was cause to stop someone on the street.
The entire incident was captured on tape by a local passerby.
To say this incident affected this man is an understatement. To date, Fonz drives around town in a vehicle labled with his message, in efforts to stop racial profiling and police brutality.
